Here's Exactly What Happens on Your Cosmetic Surgery Journey
Considering cosmetic surgery? Here’s exactly what happens, from your first phone call to your recovery. No surprises. No pressure. No rushing you into anything. Just a careful process, built around your safety and your time, led by a cosmetic doctor with more than 20 years’ experience.
You’re in Control
This Is Your Decision, and Your Timeline
Let’s be honest. Thinking about cosmetic surgery can bring up a lot of questions. Is it safe? Will I feel pressured? What actually happens, and when?
Those questions deserve real answers. So here is how it works at Fine, step by step. Every part of the journey is designed to give you information, time, and space to decide. You are never pushed. You are never rushed. And nothing moves forward until you are ready for it to.
Your Journey Step by Step
From your first enquiry to your recovery, here’s what to expect at every stage.
Step 1: Your First Enquiry
You reach out by phone or through the website. Your enquiry goes to Samantha, our practice manager, who will answer your questions and, if you’d like, book your first consultation. That’s it. No obligation, no hard sell.
Step 2: Your Consultations
You’ll have at least two consultations before any procedure is booked, and at least one is in person. Each runs around 30 to 45 minutes. This is where you talk through what you’re considering, understand your options, and hear the realistic outcomes and the risks, honestly. If it’s easier to begin remotely, your first consult can happen by phone or video.
Step 3: Careful Screening
As part of your consultations, we use a validated patient questionnaire. It’s a legislatively mandated screening tool, and it cannot be altered or skipped. It helps confirm that a procedure is genuinely right and safe for you.
Step 4: Your Seven-Day Cooling-Off Period
Once you’ve decided you’d like to go ahead, there’s a mandatory seven-day cooling-off period before anything is booked. Seven full days to sit with your decision.
Step 5: Securing Your Date
After the cooling-off period, if you’re ready to proceed, a deposit secures your surgery date. It comes only after your consultations and your full cooling-off period, never before.
Step 6: Your Procedure
Your procedure takes place in a licensed Melbourne day surgery or private hospital, with a qualified anaesthetist present. Not in-rooms.
Step 7: Recovery and Aftercare
After your procedure, you’ll be given clear aftercare guidance and follow-up suited to what you’ve had done. Recovery looks different for every procedure and every person, so yours will be explained specifically to you. Standard aftercare visits are included in the up-front cost of your procedure.
Why We Do It This Way
You might be wondering why there’s so much built into the process. Two consultations. Mandatory screening. A seven-day wait. Here’s the thinking.
Good cosmetic surgery isn’t just about the procedure. It’s about making sure it’s the right decision, made for the right reasons, by someone who’s had the time and information to be certain. Every step exists to protect you: your safety, your health, and your peace of mind.
Behind it all is a cosmetic doctor with more than 20 years’ experience, working only in licensed Melbourne hospitals with a qualified anaesthetist. Careful by design, at every stage.
Let’s Talk About Cost
Cost is one of the biggest questions people have, and one of the hardest to ask out loud. So we make it simple. Fine Cosmetic Surgery is priced to keep quality care accessible and your final cost is always confirmed during your consultation, based on your individual procedure. No hidden extras. No guesswork. No awkward surprises later.
Common Questions
No. Your consultation is for information and conversation, not commitment. You can take everything you’ve learned away, think it over, and decide in your own time. Nothing is booked without your say-so, and even then, the cooling-off period still applies.
Yes, you’re welcome to bring a partner, family member or friend to your consultation. Many people find it helpful to have someone with them to listen and ask questions.
That’s completely fine, at any stage. The seven-day cooling-off period exists precisely so you can change your mind, and deciding not to go ahead is always a valid outcome. There’s no pressure either way.
Yes. There’s no hard sell and no obligation to proceed. The first consultation is simply a chance to ask your questions, understand your options, and see whether cosmetic surgery is right for you at all.
