About Breast Lift
Breast lift surgery, clinically known as mastopexy, is a cosmetic procedure designed to lift and reshape the breasts. Over time, factors like pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, and aging can lead to loss of skin elasticity, causing breasts to droop or lose firmness. During a breast lift, excess skin is removed, and the remaining tissue is reshaped to provide the aesthetic result desired by the patient.
The surgical process typically involves repositioning the nipple-areola complex to a higher position, tightening the surrounding skin, and possibly resizing the areola if needed.
This procedure does not significantly change the size of the breasts, but it addresses issues related to natural breast tissue descent and asymmetry. Recovery time varies, but patients generally experience some swelling and discomfort initially.
Breast lift has for many years been a well established and widely practised cosmetic procedure. It is nevertheless essential for individuals considering this procedure to have realistic expectations and to choose an appropriately qualified doctor with expertise in cosmetic breast surgeries. Dr Prochazka has been performing cosmetic breast surgeries since 2005 and has successfully treated over a thousand patients.

As with any surgery, there is a risk of complications from cosmetic breast surgery. The main groups of complications are: post-operative bleeding, which can lead to a large painful blood clot developing in the surgical area; infection around the implant or in surgical incisions; shifting, dropping or rotation of implants leading to a cosmetic deformity; temporary or permanent nipple numbness; stretched, pigmented or thickened scars; stretch marks of the breast skin surface; left-right asymmetry of breast shape or size; capsular contracture around the implant; “breast implant illness”; recurrent stretching/dropping of lifted breasts; and very rarely, a type of cancer developing in the tissues in contact with textured implants (anaplastic large cell lymphoma). It is important to attend all booked post-op reviews to identify and allow correct management of any complications, which can usually be treated very successfully.
