About Non-Surgical Facial Treatment
Non-surgical facial treatment refers to a range of cosmetic procedures that enhance the appearance of the face without the need for surgery. These minimally invasive techniques aim to address signs of aging, such as wrinkles, fine lines, and loss of skin elasticity.
Two of the most widely used non-invasive facial treatment techniques cannot be listed in detail here, due to restrictions on the Schedule 4 prescription medications by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration. These treatments are only available on prescription by a doctor, and must be administered by a suitably trained doctor or nurse (under a doctor’s written order). Other non-surgical methods may include chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser therapy, and non-invasive skin tightening treatments. These procedures often have minimal downtime, allowing individuals to resume their regular activities shortly after treatment. While non-surgical facial treatment provides effective and less invasive alternatives to surgery, results are temporary and may require periodic maintenance. Consulting with a qualified aesthetic professional can help determine the most suitable non-surgical options based on individual goals and preferences.

As with any surgery, there is a risk of complications from non-surgical facial cosmetic treatments. Skin burns from facial laser or peel treatments may lead to slow healing and/or scarring. Cosmetic treatments involving Schedule 4 medications may lead to a range of short- or long-term issues, including severe complications such as tissue loss and blindness – although fortunately these kinds of outcomes are rare and in some cases reversible if treated promptly. It is important to notify the treating doctor quickly of any concerns, and attend all booked post-op reviews to identify and allow correct management of any complications.
